Lobster release in Nova Scotia

Post by Luke »

While I was taking a look at Gampo Abbey's website, I came across a page for a fantastic event: Every year they buy lobsters and then set them free in the ocean.

That's compassion in action.

A cautionary note. Last year a dozen or so lobsters were released into Burrard Inlet. Which would be fine except they were Atlantic lobsters and this is the Pacific. Fortunately they did not establish a breeding population and displace the local species.

So make sure what you release is not an alien species!
