Sūtra of the Garland of the Original Karmas of a Bodhisattva

Discuss and learn about the traditional Mahayana scriptures, without assuming that any one school ‘owns’ the only correct interpretation.

This is an amazing digest of a presentation of the path. Is the path presentation like that of the Flower Garland? What is its context? I just got a nice affordable copy of the Surangama and its IX-4 is like a study guide to the FG system - at least it seems so to me. BUT - My background is very weak in Chinese Buddhism, a hurtle I would like to overcome, and which Is why I am asking.

Thanks

Leo

PS: this is why I asked - a quick glance:

Flower Ornament/Sūtra of the Garland of the Original Karmas/Surangama

Ch. 27/Ten Levels of Abiding/Stabilizing the Mind
Ch. 15/ten Levels of Action/Abodes
Ch. 21 /≠ /Practices
Ch. 25/Ten Levels of Transference of Merit/Ten Dedications
≠ /4 Additional Practices
Ch. 26/ the Ten Grounds/the Ten Grounds
≠ /the Ten Levels of Abiding Eleventh & Twelfth/The 2 Final Stages

Leo,

Ven. Huifeng or Jeff may know.

The source would depend on which is the older sutra between the Avatamsaka & the Original Karmas one. Also, chapters can be and were, stand-alone sutras, so the earliest appearance of these stages is not known by me.
May all seek, find & follow the Path of Buddhas.
