A couple of years ago I read Sogyal Rinpoches book "The tibetan book of living and dying". In it there was a story about a meditator that felt sorry for a dying dog, and the worms that where feeding on the dog. Thus he saved the worms by sticking his tongue out in the dogs wound so that they could leave his body without harm, then, when he had carefully rescued all the worms the meditator realised that there was no dying dog in front of him - but the Buddha. Does anyone in this forum know where this story comes from?
