Refuge and Boddhicitta

NAMO KON CHOG SUM DANG TSA WA SUM
KYAB NE NAM LA KYAB SU CHI
DRO KUN SANG GYE LA GÖD CHIR
JYANG CHUB CHOG TU SEM KYE DO

I take refuge in the Three Jewels, the Three Roots,
And all sources of refuge.
In order to place all sentient beings in the state of Buddhahood,
I give rise to the Supreme Bodhicitta.

The earth is the golden ground, completely pure, full of beauty and power.
The circular iron mountain wall completely surrounds it; in the centre is the letter Hung
Here is Meru, king of mountains;In the East is Purva Videha;
In the South is Jambudvipa; In the West is Aparagodaniya; In the North is Uttarakuru
Beside them are Deha and Videha; Chamara and Aparachamara; Shatha and Uttaramantrina
Kurava and Kaurava; The jewel mountain ; The wish-fulfilling trees; The wish-fulfilling cows;
The harvest which need no sowing; The precious wheel; The precious gem; The precious queen
The precious minister; The precious elephant; The precious horse; The precious general;
The vase of great treasure; The goddess of beauty; The goddess of garlands; The goddess of song;
The goddess of dance; The goddess of flowers; The goddess of incense; The goddess of light
The goddess of perfume; The sun, the moon; The precious umbrella; The royal banner victorious in all directions:
There is all the bountiful wealth of gods and men, complete and flawless; All this:

To the Supreme and Noble Lama,
in order to request the profound nectar of the True Dharma,

To be said when practising for the long life of the master:

palden lama shyap pé kal gyar ten ring
zapmöi chö kyi khorlo korwé yön du mik té

To the glorious lama, in order that your life may be
secure for hundreds of kalpas and that you may
continue to turn the wheel of the profound Dharma teachings,

To the glorious Lama, with the prayer
that he may remain among us for oceans of kalpas
and continue to turn the wheel of Dharma,

By myself and others perfectly realizing the two purposes,
May the melodious beat of the dharma drum beautify this world.
May the propagation of the Buddha’s doctrine be ever increasing.
May all sentient beings be blissful and happy.
May they practice the dharma through the day and night.
May the two purposes of self and others, be spontaneously accomplished.
In all lifetimes, may I never be separated from the perfectly pure guru.
Utilizing the glorious Dharma to its utmost
and by excellently perfecting all pure qualities on the stages and paths.
May I swiftly achieve the state of the glorious Lama!
