The happiness I was referring too was more peace and contentment. Pleasure and fulfillment are fleeting, however the space to relax the mind in is very vast.
"Things are not what they appear to be: nor are they otherwise." --Surangama Sutra

Phenomenon, vast as space, dharmata is your base, arising and falling like ocean tide cycles, why do i cling to your illusion of unceasing changlessness?

I didn't really understand just how unhappy I was, and how unhappy I was making those around me and and those who cared about me, until I started practicing Mahayana in earnest.

This insight changed everything for me. Or, rather, it opened up a new life for me.
Thanks to the help of generous sponsors (most of them from DharmaWheel), I'm doing a Vajra Armor (Dorje Kotrab) self-retreat this summer. May the merit be yours!
