Translation of Having "The Three Convictions?"

Postby JeffC » Sat Dec 11, 2010 3:49 pm

I have been reading The Bliss of Inner Fire: Heart Practice of the Six Yogas of Naropa By Thubten Yeshe, Robina Courtin, Ailsa Cameron.

It is Lama Yeshe's teachings based on Lama Tsongkhapa's Having The Three Convictions.

I am wondering if anyone knows where there might be a direct translation of Lama Tsongkhapa's text?

Thanks very much,
Jeff

The direct translation called by Mullin the Three Inspirations is what you want:

These other Geluk commentaries are very helpful too: Readings on the Six Yogas of Naropa

Every time you recite Amita Buddha’s name, a ray of light shines through empty space. If you recite very sincerely, then this light fills up the universe, so that the energy of all worlds will be auspicious and harmonious.

Hi Jeff,

I doubt that there is a complete English translation of "Having the Three Convictions" by Tsongkhapa available, but I don't know for sure.

Lotsawa House is an organization which does a lot of translations from Tibetan into English. They have a facebook page. Perhaps they could give you more info.

Are you practicing under the guidance of a Lama? If not, then reading the details of all this stuff may not be so helpful over the long run. Tsongkhapa's other teachings are great as well.

Wonderful! Thank you so much.

I am a student of Lama Zopa Rinpoche. While I do get in sometimes over my head when I read direct translations (rather than commentary) I like to try.
