Lama Migmar Tseten and Acharya Malcolm Smith - October 15–17, 2010 Friday–Sunday 2 nights.
For everyone, especially those in the healing arts.
According to traditional accounts, Tibetan medicine was first taught in India by the Buddha and was brought to Tibet in the eighth century CE where it has flourished in an unbroken lineage to the present day.
The special weekend will begin with a lecture by Malcolm Smith, doctor of Tibetan medicine, on the history and lineage of both Medicine Buddha and Tibetan medicine, and their relationship with Ayurveda and the yogic culture of ancient India. On Saturday, Lama Migmar will bestow the initiation of Medicine Buddha in the morning, and give instructions on the sadhana practice of Medicine Buddha in the afternoon. In the evening Malcolm will discuss the basic principles of Tibetan medicine, including the five elements and three humors.
Sunday morning, you will learn how to combine the sadhana of Medicine Buddha with the technique of blessing medicinal substances to enhance their healing function. The workshop will conclude with a short practice of Medicine Buddha sadhana and a medicine blessing ceremony. Please bring any fresh, unopened medicines you may have for this ceremony.
