Importance of filling a statue

Postby Kunzang8 » Tue Jul 16, 2013 3:40 am

Hi

Can anyone please tell me about the importance about having statues filled? I have a friend who has an entire shrine of Tibetan style statues that are not filled. Is this okay? Thanks.

All these things in the mundane material world are only symbols.
The importance of these symbols depends on the persons who deals with it. What does a filled or a not filled statue denote for your friend?
"We're fascinated by the words–but where we meet is in the silence behind them."
Chögyam Trungpa Rinpoche

By this constructive act, may we quickly actualize ourselves as Guru-Buddhas
and thereafter lead to that state all wandering beings, not neglecting even one.
