lamas and animals

Yes this also moved me, because of its sincerity. We need more teachers like that in the world.

Here is a picture of Geshe Sonam with a motherless baby hare we rescued. He grew up in an animal shelter and now lives in a large enclosure with plenty of grass to nibble and a blue sky overhead. (Maybe we should start a teachers and animals photo thread)

Gyumed Khensur Rinpoche Lobsang Jampa, of the Do Ngak Kunphen Ling Center in CT, and the Archbishop of the National Cathedral at the Washington DC Animal League in 2007. Rinpoche was in town when the Dalai Lama received the Congressional Medal; he supervised the chanting at the Cathedral.

The white puppy had been hit by a car and had rods/staples in both front legs - Rinpoche blessed him.

“After I have said that I want all beings to become buddhas, I get unhappy when harmdoers get even minimal prosperity or honor. This is extremely contradictory.’ You must eliminate your jealousy regarding any sort of attainment by other persons and delight in it from the depths of your heart. Otherwise your Bodhicitta and the achievement of the welfare and happiness of beings are nothing but words.”

I've seen that one with the deer before; amazing photo! Apparently it is Kyabje Choeje Ayang Rinpoche.

Here's one of Lama Kunzang Dorjee with a goat his Jangsa Animal Saving Trust saved from the butchers. Lama Kunzang Dorjee is a student of HH Chatral Rinpoche and also encourages saving life (tsethar) and not eating meat. You can donate to support his projects on his website.
