Ok, how does one successfully launder a ngakpa zen? Mine is the plain variety, cotton blend, one white panel with two plain red panels on the outsides of the white panel.

Is there a way to successfully wash it without turning the whole thing a weird shade of pink?

Have it dry cleaned the first one or two times.

Sometimes the dyes are so cheap, they run even from dry cleaning. But that is still the best route.

Sometimes the Bhutanese kind have stitching between the colors, and I know one lama's who unstitched it, washed the white and red separately, then had someone re-sew it together.
