Drunken old sot

Walking in the forest by a road, came upon a drunken person, yelling muttering to himself as drunks are bound to do.
Spying me starting with the typical, drunken abusive chatter.
Seeing me perhaps, as I am, stopping that.
Taking a quick whiz, then, he was.

And there is a time when a child is taught so. He is taught goodby with hand wave.
A two or three year old..... this is the thing.
Everything it is so simple. All are important and like me. To wave it is what all do.
And like to do we sorely do.
And do and do it be as candy when taught to do.
Life so simple then.

Well caught he me
A wave I gave
He waved back, not knowing of course to what delight
Conscious not his mind far gone
A pleasure though a quick delight
Wave wave wave we did him and me

Abandoned by friends he was for sure
As drunks are bound to do becoming as they are inclined
abusive to others I'm sure certainly deserved.
20 miles to town he was
drunken barely standing.

So wave wave wave, a minutes time
him and me
3 year old him and me
when all was simple and pleasure delight
in wave wave wave
pleasure delight.

Sad.. sad...it broke my heart
Still does.... this drunken old sot I spied.
A week now later.
wave wave wave..it was a simple thing and time
no recollection mind far gone
but recollection yet...wave and wave he did.

sad sad sad they suffer so.
a 3 year old he was again
a split second then he was
a time when all was simple and all was friend
and all was required
was a simple wave to befriend
and that freely given to all that may

now drunken bumbling along again
muttering curseing to himself
drunken old sot with nary a friend
mind far gone, drunken old sot
memory now
abuse abused how many hurt
hurting always pain and fear
fight and flame how many hurt
drunken old sot

a minute he was not there
but here waving to a friend
wrap it up and bundle it up if I could
never can I for drunken old sot
