Cool, I loved the original series, it was my most favourite tv show when I was a kid:

and this looks very similar costume-wise, I hope it will turn out great.

I'd like to see a good British or Hollywood take on Journey to the West.

Chinese film companies often make these things look cheesy, childish and silly. If only someone could make a Journey to the West film with a Lord of the Rings type feel to it.

hehe, this is one of the things I loved about the original series, it was naive and cheesy, but also joyous, Holywood would make it pathetic plus when I watched American take on major European tales and myths such as ancient Greek myths (new clash of the titans, troya), nordic myths (beowulf) and celtic/british (various adaptations of King Arthur theme, Robin Hood) it was all total crap - because the filmmakers probably did not really read the original myths, but just some simplified versions and they wanted to make the original story better, which for people like me who love ancient myths comes out as a really distasteful atempt to make our cultural heritage into a cheap plastic article of business. But not only that, also real history, such as recently shot Ironclad (base upon the siege of Rochester in 1215 - which was made by British, man they even screwed their own history and made it into unbelieveably pathetic romance. I don´t know how new Monkey King will turn out, but I hope it preserves this kind of carefree and happy spirit of the original, I don´t think Holywood would do that, at leas most of Holywood producers.
