lingering desire

Post by greentara »

Even one lingering desire is enough to make you feel unfulfilled. Desires of course rise without asking your permission. Freewill as strong as it is, is still incapable of preventing even one desire from rising.
Even a yogi in a cave can sit for long periods of time and still be battling his desires. Perhaps dejected after all the years he has tussled with wayward thoughts.
Even a fortunate one who has had a glimpse or breakthrough; how does he then stabilise this into a constant awakened 'state' ....of course beyond all states.

First, you need to know if free will exists at all. Desires arise up to 7 seconds before you are aware of them. So, even if you want to believe in free will, it becomes a second grade device, incapable of any major change in your present behavior. Nevertheless, it is the main mechanism responsible for planting seeds for future desires.
