It's interesting reading about the bhumihar caste, it's strange because you could say they are half Brahmin.
They were Brahmins till the buddhist period and then they converted to Buddhism
"In the fourth and fifth centuries, Buddhists started converting back to Hinduism. The Brahmins said we could return to the fold but we couldn't be priests and take money for conducting religious ceremonies and so we became the only Brahmins that tilled the soil, In Bihar we became landlords"
