Rolling Jubilee & HH Dalai Lama

A bailout of the people by the people.
We buy debt for pennies on the dollar, but instead of collecting it, we abolish it. We cannot buy specific individuals' debt - instead, we help liberate debtors at random through a campaign of mutual support, good will, and collective refusal.
The Jubilee begins November 15
with "The People's Bailout," a variety show and telethon in NYC.
All proceeds will go directly to buying people's debt and cancelling it.

This looks like a brilliant idea. The promotion of it is a bit strange, though:

Tell these celebrities to support the People's Bailout. Select one of the following celebrities:

and one of them is none other than the Fourteenth Dalai Lama. Celebrity culture...
Fast and bulbous. Tight also.

The donation part is a really great idea. The rest of it though is definitely weird. It's essentially an app that customizes a political message directed at a celebrity that gets sent out by your Twitter account.

Overall, I think the Rolling Jubilee is a FANTASTIC idea. I'm just not sure about the promotional bits.
