Personal retreat places?

Postby kirtu » Mon Nov 21, 2011 10:47 pm

Does anyone know of a place on the US East Coast where I can do a personal closed retreat for about 2 weeks in January? I will be practising about 16+ hours a day and need to set my own agenda and also not spent much money. One option is just to do it at home.

But many years ago a Zen practitioner friend of mine found a place for personal practice in New York state ....

Thanks!

Bhavana Society is very close to you. It is Theravada, but of course Buddhist meditation is about the same across traditions and especially if you are doing a solo retreat, a Buddhist environment is all you need.

Thanks for the reminder David! However I'm not sure if they will really let me practice off by myself intensively for two weeks. This will be be a specific practice from the Tibetan Buddhist tradition. I will give them a call though.

Hi Kirtu

The Palyul retreat centre in Upstate NY?
Apart from during the month of the summer retreat there must be so many empty rooms there.

Good luck anyway.
