Halloween Pumpkin Karma

The day after Halloween, two jack-o-lanterns were having a discussion about rebirth.
One of them had been carved to have a scary, mean face. The other had a silly face.
"As far as I can remember, I've always been angry!" the first one said,
"In my next life, do you think I will be reborn as some kind of demon?"
The second one replied, "I don't know. But as far as I can recall, I have always been silly and foolish.
I don't think I have ever done anything meaningful in my whole life.
I'll probably be reborn as some kind of animal or something, if I am lucky!!!"
And they went on like this, for about a week, back and forth,
discussing all the awful things they might come back as, talking about their karma,
their whole discussion based on some idea of who they thought they were,
until they finally rotted away.

Meanwhile, completely unaware of this discussion,
the Earth and the clouds were having their own conversation.
"It was great getting together again this year,
manifesting as melons and pumpkins and all sorts of vegetables again" said the Earth.
"I can't wait to do it all again next year!" said the clouds.

A lot depends on one's perspective.
