Good Morning! I just found this site :-)
I have been a Buddhist since 1999. I took my vows from His Holiness the Dalai Lama in Pasedena California.
I have been studying Theravada through the Teachings of Thanissaro Bhikkhu for going on 5 years.
There are not many Buddhists were I live in a place called California City, California, in the Mojave Desert.
Best Wishes to you all! di

Hi Di!

I actually live up the road from you in Tehachapi. I am a member of Rissho Kosei-kai which is a Japanese sect of Buddhism. You may be surprised how many Buddhists are out here. In Tehachapi, there is a Korean Son temple and there is also a Tibetan Buddhist retreat center. Down in Pearblossom (the other side of Palmdale) you will find Hye Wol Sunim who is ordained in both the Theravada and and Son lineages (he is from Sri Lanka) who has started a meditation and retreat center there. I also know of a couple of Nichiren Shu members in the Antelope Valley. (And I haven't even gotten to Bakersfield yet.)

Gassho,

Dave
