Greetings,
Sammy am I, a middle aged male from the Northeastern United States. I've been an arm chair philosopher/student of science my whole life and after some personal suffering, I began to look to Buddha's teachings as a way to cure that suffering. I have tried to learn the history of not only Siddhārtha Gautama but also Buddhism in general, of course I used Wikipedia and other internet sources but also I've started reading the English translation of the Pali cannon. I have attended a few Buddhist groups and temples in my area as well. I tell you this so you will understand that my knowledge is very limited. especially with the proper names for things, so please forgive my mistakes...but also please correct me.
I would not call myself a Buddhist, at least not yet, maybe never...however I most assuredly am a student of Buddha's teachings. I've already realized that the benefits are real and tangible. I look forward to sharing in your collective wisdom and I wish you all days filled with loving kindness.

“Where do atomic bombs come from?”
Zen Master Seung Sahn said, “That’s simple. Atomic bombs come from the mind that likes this and doesn’t like that.”
"Even if you practice only for an hour a day with faith and inspiration, good qualities will steadily increase. Regular practice makes it easy to transform your mind. From seeing only relative truth, you will eventually reach a profound certainty in the meaning of absolute truth."
