Re: Hot and Cool Drinks?

So in most ways what we eat is not all that important. With the exeption of calorie restriction which may have some inpact the whole concept of "we are what we eat" is nonsense. Thinking like this is responsible for many diseases that people have, which they could easily avoid. N Certainl...

Re: Hot and Cool Drinks?

Thanks, Namdrol....Some have claimed cold drinks make them sick....what's TM's take on this? Same reason, kill digestive heat, makes your immune system compromised, etc. The Imune system is a very complex system that spans the body...a few cold drinks wont have any real effect. Remember the human d...

Buddha Didnt Say It !

There seems to be alot of discussion on this that is enbedded in other threads, but I thought it would be interesting to explore this in its own thread... Often times people will make a comment to the effect that if the Historucal Buddha did not specificly state something that it is somehow not auth...

Re: Pureland,Physics,Science,

Sad to say, He is way off on a great deal of his bassic science.

Try reading Brian Greene 's book "the Hidden Reality". It is very much in line with the Buddhist Teachings anf he gets the science right.

Re: Self-Generation and Empowerment

This might help, It is from a Teaching on the Medicine Buddha but does touch on the question that you Asked. Venerable Khenchen Thrangu Rinpoche’s teaching on the Medicine Buddha. The main practice in vajrayana consists of the generation stage, the cultivation of the practice of regarding oneself as...

Re: Time well Spent?

I think the most important thing to do is to put your root Guru's instructions into practice and rely upon him completely. I always come back to that myself, although sometimes, with the Dharma, I'm like a kid in a sweet shop and want to taste many different books and instructions, but I'm seriously...

Re: What is Tibetan Buddhism

This is one of those questions that seems as though it might be realitively simple but can be a bit hard to pin down. There are several different schools of TB. Personaly I belong to the Kagyu school. Any book by Kalu Rinpoche will give you a good overview of the Kaygu loneage. Of course any book by...

Time well Spent?

Hi All, This might have been a topic already but here goes... I have been a part of the Kagyu Lineage for several years, having Taken Refuge and am studing under the guidance of a qualified spiritual Teacher. Although this path has been a perfect fit for me, I do find it interesting to learn about t...

Re: Disposal

This can be a somewhat tricky topic, even more so for those of us like me who live in a city. When I took Refuge It was taught that we should respect Buddha Images texts etc. That we should keep them in High places in or home and not put them on the floor or on chairs or other places where we sit. T...

Re: Who do Buddhists pray to?

I think that there is some difference between the Buddhist schools as to this topic... As per the Teachings that I have gotten The Buddha Tara, Chenrezing etc used to be ordanary Beings who have gained Enlightenment or a very high level of Realization thru their own efforts. I pray directly to them ...

Re: Cause, Effect, & Holocaust

From the Teachings that I have gotten, there is Karma on a national level that people can become engulfed in without actualy have commited a specific negitive act. A very sad note on this topic... A very large part of the Orthdox Jewish world blames the Nazi's war aganst the Jews on thier fellow Jew...

Re: Dharma Path by Kagyu Thubten Chöling

I Took Refuge with and have been a student of Lama Norlha Rinpoche in the Dharma Path Program for the past few years. In my opinion it is a very good program that is a ground up approach to Tibetan Buddhism in the Kaygu Lineage. When you enter the program you are given a Mentor, all of whom have com...
