Re: Tilopa

Ganges Mahamudra is a port of call when the time is upon me. Zurmang Gharwang Rinpoche looks impressive, does he have many disciples in the West? Rinpoche will be back in the States in late January. Teachings will be announced here: zurmangkagyu.org Any plans for the UK? There are no plans to go to...

Re: Tilopa

Garchen Rinpoche regularly teaches Tilopa's Ganges Mahamudra .. Would deepen the connection I imagine. Zurmang Gharwang Rinpoche is considered a rebirth of Tilopa. So perhaps the Zurmang kagyu has some related practices. Ganges Mahamudra is a port of call when the time is upon me. Zurmang Gharwang ...

Re: Alan Wallace DZ related Q&A

I enjoy listening to his teachings. Instead of the usual vajrayana ngöndro that culminates in guruyoga, he has people cultivate shamatha, the four close applications of mindfulness, and the four immeasurables. He says that this approach is more suitable for many people, and he cites traditional lam...

Re: Sanskrit Gender

I have an eccentric practice of trying to preserve Sanskritic plurals when I write, largely simply because I am a language nerd. My question is, are there any good Sanskrit dictionary available that do not require fluency in Devanagari where they list the genders of Sanskrit terms along with their ...

Re: Alan Wallace DZ related Q&A

I am attending his upcoming January 7-12 retreat in Santa Barbara on Dudjom Lingpa's Buddhahood Without Meditation (Part 2) , a text he recently translated. He says anyone who did not attend Part 1 last year but who purchases and works through last year's recording can attend. If you request it, th...

Re: Inherency and the Object of Negation

Gelugpas classify some conceptual cognitions as direct realizes (དངོས་སུ་རྟོགས་པ་) because they say that they realize their object through the force of experience. Examples include the second moment of an inferential cognition and also memory. Certainly, Dignaga who defines direct perception as “th...
