Re: Confess yourself here for this new year occasion
confessions? hmmm... I confess..... * I meditate lying down rather than the correct seated position * am only vegetarian rather than vegan on mondays * do not see the harm in moderate doses of alcohol - providing it does not affect the mind I am using * take too much pleasure in my food * have a ten...

Re: Ajahn Amaro's mother on the debt to one's parents
I must admit that my connection to Buddhism has changed my personal view on my parents.... If I had not read, studied, learned and practiced Buddhism, I would have totally turned my back/ignored my father's predicament. Because I learned of the value put upon one's parents in the Buddhist faith, it ...

Re: Tibetan situation and petition
There are other additional ways to act of course - i already refuse to buy Chinese products if there are any alternatives. There is also a growing number of everyday Chinese people who do not like what their Govt does, but who will not stand up to them. Maybe if enough of them band together there wi...

Tibetan situation and petition
NB: This might only be of interest to those members who practice Tibetan Buddhism: I have been following very closely the situation of the latest monastery to be subjected to Chinese intimidation within Tibet and would like to ask any members that feel that way inclined to please check out the follo...

Re: Tibetan Alphabet Learning Tool from Shang Shung Institut
I have just started to learn the Tibetan alphabet - I have a picture of it, a video of pronunciation, and I have just been given a link where both are together - and now more help! Now, i just need to store it all in my brain instead of just the first letter.......

Re: How long will religious freedom last?
Part of the Bodhisattva attitude, if i am correct, is to wish to assist everyone even if we ALONE do so.... so, as stated above, I think we should all work on our own practice to keep Buddhism going. Maybe there will be less emphasis on Buddhism for a while, or it may be made unpopular to practice, ...

Re: masters of the tradition
I have indeed been tempted to progress in that area - however, it seems that it is not 'the' - if 'a' - teacher for me to pursue.... I am interested, respectful, and read a lot - - but that certain 'connection' is lacking. I keep trying..... i keep reading, exploring, learning....but....

Re: masters of the tradition
Thank you - i will check these links..... everytime I pray to Guru Rinpoche about searching for a new teacher/guide, I keep getting visions of a Tibetan musician rather than of a teacher - I wonder if this man will someday become a teacher too - or if my mind is clouded as I like their music.... :na...
