Re: Unseen Beings in Tibetan Buddhism
Personal experience: I had a negative entity bothering me for many, many years. When I took formal refuge and attended a two day cho healing ceremony my problem finally vanished and it's been about 5 years without much trouble. We have many means at our disposal to protect from negative entities imh...

Re: GRIEF
The trouble is that when we lose a loved one, we find ourselves attached to someone who is no longer here, in this form. Even my psychiatrist, who is a Buddhist, said that I am not putting into practice what I know already about Buddhism, impermenance, et. But moving on isn't just some choice you ca...

Re: Understanding Tathata
Personally, I wouldn't take the Awakening of Faith as a definitive teaching, but as an expedient one. Look for the central chapters of the small Prajnaparamita sutra in 8 000 verses; and the center of the Sadaprarudita avadana at the end of same. ~~ Huifeng Makes much more sense now Venerable, than...

Re: Weight
Thanks Ron. I have been excessively thirsty and I wondered why. I'll take your suggestions under consideration and talk with my primary physician more. Ironically you mentioned diabetes a lot which is what did my husband in last month. It's a really serious illness. Hopefully if I can get my system ...

Re: Weight
Wow, thanks a lot guys! I just ate a bunch of carrots last night.
I had my thyroid checked recently (in the last three months) and it's functioning just fine.
Thanks again for all the good suggestions
Best,
Laura

I just remembered, do I need to cut off the caffeine? I'll get headaches for a little while but I'm willing to do it.
Thanks,

Re: Weight
You don't have to eat meat to get enough calories. Grains, legumes, many root vegetables and nuts are all decent sources of calories. Most fruits are lower in calories but avocados and durians are good fruit sources. :namaste: Thanks :) What's a root vegetable? I think there's some nuts laying arou...

Re: Understanding Tathata
Wouldn't that be more of an inner experience as opposed to an intellectual one? That's an interesting point too. I guess that's why I'm trying to understand if, and when the definition changes depending upon the context. So it would seem. But Ven. Huifeng said it's only a matter of semantics. Best,...

Re: Weight
Well one of my medicines stimulates the appetite. It works, but unfortunately I can't take it until 6:00 at night and it takes effect three hours later. So during the daytime it's a bit rougher. I keep eating and losing, so I'll change what I'm eating. I just can't take in any meat right now for sur...

As if you read my mind, I've been eating fruit and soft foods.
I'll do as you suggest, thanks. I think I smell chorizo and potatoes cooking. And I have bread.
Thanks

Re: Understanding Tathata
Why are there so many definitions of Tathata and how does one know when to use each one when reading a text? tathata = dependent origination tathata = dharmata tathata = see the truth of all things, to see the reality of the things. The wisdom arising to the person who practises insight meditation....

PS
My Western doctor isn't particularly concerned but it's making me really fatigued. And people around me are starting to make remarks.
Thanks,
Laura

Re: Weight
Aye, three meals now. Ok. I dropped another ten in a week totaling 60 in five weeks. At this point it's becoming an interference but I guess that would be obvious.
Thanks,
Laura

Weight
Namdrol la and all,
How can you at least keep your weight from dropping even if you're consuming food and nutrients and even fats?
Thanks,
Laura
