Re: This is the discourse on mundane pleasure - Drukpa Kunley Rinpoche

Given that I don't read Tibetan and have to rely on translations, the only English language book I have come across is Dowman's "The Divine Madman - The Sublime Life and Songs of Drukpa Kunley". I don't know how bad the translations are since I cannot read the original. Personally, I like...

That is the most amazing, dzoki! You have my deep gratitude I was thinking you'd chime in since you wrote some info in 'where did all kagyupas gone' topic but i wasn't prepared for such a detailed reply. Is it possible for you to tell me how is it called within Shakya Shri lineage? Are you a studen...

Re: rechung nyengyu

After Milarepa have received missing cycles from Rechungpa he transmitted .... there are actually at least four lineages of Demchog Khandro Nyengyu - the one held by Rechungpa which is the princple lineage and two smaller lineages by Ngendzong repa and Gampopa. The fourth lineage is essence lineage...

Re: This is the discourse on mundane pleasure - Drukpa Kunley Rinpoche

That translation by Keith Dowman is at places quite inaccurate. As for the teachings of Drugpa Kunleg, there are some texts on tbrc. There is a little collection made by some Bhutanese scholar, whose identity I forgot, called The Dharma collection of Great Cock. It contains among other things a long...

Re: Kālacakra Vajrayoga & Dzogchen comparison

How much does the approach of Dzogchen/Atiyoga and the Vajrayogas of the Kalacakra completion stage (primarily held by the Jonang Zhentong tradition) differ from one another? As a side note on this, the Kalachakra teaching which is available here in human dimension is limited, it is a concise versi...

Re: what is Russia up to?

Russia needs Turkey on it's side to be able to play out it's strategy in Syria. I am not saying that they don´t need them, but I think Putin is playing Erdogan like a fiddle and once he does not need Turkey, for any purpose, he will dump them. Turkey does not fit too much into his idea of Caucasus,...

Re: what is Russia up to?

Interesting material. It seems that Putin and his people must have read that book. Makes me wonder will Russia play Trump against China? Right now China is an official ally of Russia, but Russian government certainly views China as massive threat, I read that in official (that is Putin aligned) Russ...

Re: Longchen Nyingtig Initiation

Hello Dharma community, I am wondering if I could get some input regarding how I could get the lung and wang for the Longchen Nyingtik sadhanas. Let me give you some background. I have learned from some lamas in the Kagyu tradition, got some basic empowerments for Guru Rinpoche, Chenrezig, but have...

Re: Trump is a Russian Puppet hahahahaha

I wonder what would happen if those Russian tapes got out to the public. Would Republicans impeach Trump? I doubt it.

But if there were a tape of him with Ivanka, that would be some tough sh*t. Which honestly is not too unlikely.

Re: Life history of Maitripa ?

At Kyabje Dorje Chang Bokar Rinpoche's monastery in Mirik, Darjeeling district, India, one of the main rupas is a life-size rupa of Maitripa. It's blue. I heard about that, it is rather an exception, usually, there are very few paintings of Maitripa, let alone statues. It is said that Maitripa hims...

Re: Life history of Maitripa ?

It is a pity how much Maitripa was pushed to the side in Kagyu lineage, when he was in fact the root guru of Marpa. There is not even any extensive namthar and I have not come across any praise, prayer or guruyoga. It is such a shame. Also quite strange given how much Kagyupas owe him and the fact t...

Karma Jinpa wrote:Dzoki, the response I got from Garchen Institute is as follows:

The links are put up a week before the teachings.
So just keep an eye on the webpage http://www.garchen.net

It's not a direct yes or no, but seems to imply a webcast if you ask me.

Thank you very much Jinpa.

Re: If Vajrayana is superior to Hinayana, how come no stories of Dipa Ma-like siddhis?

If Vajrayana is superior to Hinayana, how come no stories of Dipa Ma-like siddhis? Dipa Ma could fly through the air, walk through walls, dive into the ground etc etc. The Vajrayana mystical stuff is merely having visions of deities, travelling to Pure Lands in dreams and pulling stuff out of rocks...

Re: How to Generate Merit?

One more comes to my mind - printing and distributing dharma texts (to those who can have use for them), this one is fairly easy to do. Also commissioning statues, thangkas or ritual itmes and giving them to those vajra siblings who need them.

Re: Dr. Nida Chenagtsang

I must strongly refute dzoki's assertions as baseless misunderstandings. Well I have no horse in this race so to speak, but I know several people from Germany, who are former students of Dr. Nida Chenagtsang, so based on what I learned from them and on my own observations I felt that the warning wa...
