By using Wylie, a reader can reconstruct the actual Tibetan ...

Partless moments of consciousness.

Consciousness is compounded.
Are the "partless moments" considered to be compounded or uncompounded?
Compounded.
I don't understand how something that has no parts can be considered compounded.
Can you explain?

didn't have a regular mobile phone until last summer. I believe you can dial into a Zoom webinar (like this) without needing a smart phone. Just dial one of the phone-in numbers from the email that lists the log-in options. Then using the keypad, enter the meeting ID (also from the info email...

Re: Why do some lay teachers of Tibetan traditions wear maroon monk robes?

Recently I have been thinking about this and what would be an upasaka clothing in the Tibetan buddhist tradition? For example if one wanted to have a seperate set of clothing for retreats or for important days in the buddhist calendar. White trousers and shirt, dresses for women. This gives the imp...

Re: Dzogchen Community of Chogyal Namkhai Norbu

I was briefly a member of the DC around 2013-2014, but could not afford to attend retreats in person. At that time, I did not have reliable internet access either, so I let the membership lapse. While I practice what I received from Norbu Rinpoche, I do not really know what is going on with the orga...

Re: Kagyu Lineages

I completed a traditional Kagyu closed 3-year group retreat. We went through a number of practices: ngondro, guru yogas, yidam sadhanas, etc. I felt there just was not enough time to really get into each practice, and the large amount of chanting (in Tibetan) was challenging. Then about 7 years late...

Re: Best book for learning Tibetan

I have begun studying Tibetan again, after a lapse of many years. I agree that Franziska Oertle's book "Heart of Tibetan" is really excellent; my understanding of many basic concepts is enhanced through her presentation. Also, the spoken drills for the lessons, available via Google Drive, ...

Re: Namkhai Norbu lineage

I never met Namkhai Norbu Rinpoche in person, nor had involvement in the Dzogchen Community, but I did have the good fortune to receive transmission of the White A guru yoga and the Song of the Vajra via one of his world-wide internet transmissions around 2012. These are among the most profound dhar...

Re: question to the Konchog Cidu

Yes, I agree that asking your lama is best. There may be more specific dedication verses that are customary in your sangha, and it is good to keep your personal practice in harmony with that.

In the meantime, using a more generic dedication stanza is certainly not wrong.

Re: question to the Konchog Cidu

My text, which is in Tibetan, does not include dedication verses either. Perhaps there were not dedication verses specific to this liturgy in the original terma, but I do not know for certain. Maybe a more knowledgeable member here can comment on that. What I do is chant a generic 4-line dedication ...
