Re: The Banning of Bardor Tulku Rinpoche
really a schism can only occur if one claims they have a better dharma than the buddha's. can i just say that i find it odd that all this stems as we are told, from a 'non' action and not 'a' action, i.e, the grass was not cut, not the grass was cut. I was taught that a scism is any one action that...

Re: International Order of Buddhist Ministers
But where did Nagarjuna LEARN the Dharma? Suffice to say that he learned what he did from all the lineages thriving during his life, like the Sravastivadins etc. He offered great reform to the Dharma, aside from that he was Enlightened which was why he could reform it. Shakyamuni didnt need a previo...

Re: International Order of Buddhist Ministers
That kind of lineage as seen in Zen for instance is not a universal part of Buddhism. Actually, the whole transmission lineage concept is restricted to a few traditions and others don't use it. And in the case of Zen lineage served mainly a political purpose rather than a spiritual/religious one. T...

Re: Question about Medicine Buddha
What i would like to ask is: do you see Medicine Buddha as a real being Someone asked this of my teacher at a Medicine Buddha teaching and he answered yes, the Medicine Buddha was a real person who through his practice and vows became enlightened. able to physically heal someone under certain circu...

Re: your choice of Mahyana & Vajrayana
Like the post above, I see the Triyanas as a ladder, so I started with Theravada meditation and then became fascinated with Soto Zen, which I still practice along with Vajrayana. IMO, the three yanas is more delusional distinction, Gautamas teaching is his teaching, so I accept all forms of Buddhism...

Re: Is there any rule to prostrations?
But what we see as strange, we see because we dont have a link with that teacher (or those outside our lineages) If you literally see your guru (whoever that may be!) as nothing apart from Shakyamuni Buddha, it would open our minds to the ability to delve head first to the floor and praise the Tatha...

Re: Prayer for Glen Beck
Why do I smell a set-up in the works here? This announcement designed to earn sympathy points for Glenn Beck, followed by another announcement further down the line that he has been "miraculously cured" of the disease. The irony, as others have pointed out, is that the man is already blin...

Re: International Order of Buddhist Ministers
Well, as Yonten says, there is this hindrance that those who are somewhat familiar with Tibetan or Zen teachings think that teachers must be from a lineage of (enlightened) masters and that Buddhism is not something one can simply study and practice but that meditation is the essential way and to t...

Re: The Banning of Bardor Tulku Rinpoche
What I fail to understand about this entire thing is how exactly japhy got from a scism to Tibetans vs. westerners, and then slaves??? This is ironic, not two days ago I purchased a list of long life prayers, one being for bardor rinpoche. This is all wrong. We should also pray for whoever banned hi...

Re: The Banning of Bardor Tulku Rinpoche
Well yeah, and if that be the case, can we REALLY argue with the decision of a manifest bodhisattva? Some how I think that he didnt have much say in it, I mean Tsurphu is HH's seat in Tibet, but how much contact do any of them have with eachother? I cant see the logic behind removing a very intellig...

Re: Is there any rule to prostrations?
I was at an empowerment this weekend and was rather startled when the sangha (I am a member of another center) leapt up and did vigorous prostrations when the lama entered the shrine room. The day of the empowerment they did NOT do this, just the day of the teachings. Can anyone explain this dispar...

Re: The Banning of Bardor Tulku Rinpoche
Thats a questionable decision on the part of the KTD. But honestly, how much sway does HH hold on a seat in another country?
Does he still technically have say in the happenings at Tsurphu?
This could be something trivial, but regardless I hope he is welcomed back.

Re: The Banning of Bardor Tulku Rinpoche
I dont believe it, Ive was just on the KTD website today.
I highly doubt the Namse Bangdzo bookstore would sell books and teachings by a teacher banned from teaching.

Re: Milarepa empowerment
This is fortunate, I was on the KDK website and it fails to specify whether or not this practice requires the Empowerment, it is listed under a category that I assume is comprised of Kriya tantra practices like white tara, chenrezig, medicine buddha, etc.
Can anyone enlighten me on this matter?

Chod and Sur offerings
Ive been on several sites, all of which offer texts with instructions and offering substances for Chod and Sur offerings, and in the Nyingma school these are fine for lay practitioners, you can even practice the Thousand armed Chenrezig within the Sur offering ceremony. But is this advisable for a s...

Re: ordination
I once read an interview which seemed to imply that there were some American Shangpa Kagyu monks and nuns in San Francisco doing retreats, but I could be mistaken... Also, I know that there was a Drikung Kagyu nun named something like Ven. Ani Choling who used to post on E-Sangha. She would probabl...
