Well than what are the specific fetters eliminated when one attains stream entry. Three fetters are eliminated: Holding to the view that there is a self, uncertainty in the truth of the dharma, and attachment to rituals. Two more are reduced: desire and ill-will. I think I understand,that these are attainments but they simply happen naturally by following the path. By realizing interdependent co-arising and non-self one attains these levels but by seeking these levels you never attain them.

The best you can do is just explain the reason why you left Christianity and if they accept it or not it is their decision. In the end all you can really do is practice the path and let go of what other people may think or say.
