Re: Greetings from Wales
Ah Wales, my favorite place! I have lived there off and on since 1985, got married in Haverfordwest and went to the University of Aberystwyth for a master's degree in heritage studies. Always a longing to return.

Re: Hello from Oregon
Actually, the choices are limited to the most populated areas of Oregon. The South Coast is greatly lacking in options, so I travel to Ashland where I belong to a meditation center.

Dear Simon, I am normally a lurker on these boards, but I felt I had to write and say that you are a valued member of this forum. I am 59 and appreciate what you, and the others - no matter their age - have to say. Please reconsider your decision to leave.

Lama Pema and Lama Yeshe, my teachers, are both lay lamas. They teach at Kagyu Sukha Choling, in Ashland, Oregon, as Cone said. They hold both Karma Kagyu and Shangpa Kagyu lineages.

Re: Yidams: What are they, how does one get one?
I had forgotten that yidam practice is a form of shamatha. My teachers have said that one more than one occasion. Thanks for reminding me!

Re: Yidams: What are they, how does one get one?
Another question - can one do yidam practice as one's main practice without doing shamatha (shinay/calm abiding) regularly?
