Re: Drikung logo
I have a small moon tattoo on my back which needs to be corrected. I had thought to cover it with this symbol as I've taken refuge in the drikung tradition, but would this disrespectful?

Re: Help identify this antique (Buddha? ) Statuette
Uh oh "Offering and chanting is needed daily." What has your mom gotten you into? Well...if all goes well you'll have a whole lotta love! LOL, It was a wedding present. We recently got in a Thai temple. Mom saw this and thought it would be appropriate as she thought it was a Buddha. Kinda...

Help identify this antique (Buddha? ) Statuette
My mom gave me this, which she bought cheap at an online antique auction. It doesn't look like any Buddha I've ever seen, but it does appear old. It's Bronze, and worn with a patina. There are some kind of stones in the eyes. I'm attaching a link to an album : http://m.imgur.com/a/VWsPN What do you ...

Re: DEALING WITH ANTS
They hate the smell of mint. I take fresh mint and crush it a little, and put it where they are coming in and along the path they are taking. This really does help. You have to keep replacing the mint as it wilts until the ants go away

Did anyone by chance attend? I was there and I have a few questions I couldn't find an answer to while I was there.

Re: When others harm those you love... help needed
IMO, contact Lama Dawa Rinpoche via http://www.saraswatibhawan.org and ask for a mirror divination on what specific practices, either done by yourself or commissioned from others, will help your grandmother the most. Then also ask the best way for dealing with your aunt and Mother. You could even a...

Re: When others harm those you love... help needed
Thank you all for your posts :) I guess if I thought for sure that getting angry, so to speak, would help I would do so in an instant. However, a big part of me feels like there is enough anger here already, and since I can't take any real legal action I don't know what could be accomplished. My gra...

Re: When others harm those you love... help needed
Intellectually, I understand this... but anger simply arises. As if, someone was harming your child and you want to stop it but don't know how. I am afraid of taking the wrong action and making things worse, or taking no action and making things worse... As things are I am a granddaughter, not a dau...

When others harm those you love... help needed
I read this forum a lot, but I rarely post... I find myself in a difficult situation, and in need of advice from a Buddhist perspective. To explain briefly. I was partially raised by my grandmother, and therefore we are very close. She has two children, my mom and aunt, who have a very bad relations...

Re: Vajrasattva as water?
Oh, yes, that was a typo...
What I have in my notes "the nature of water IS Vajrasattva"
My impression of it is basically like you stated. I really like this metaphor too. I am wondering if there is a specific visualization that goes with it.

Vajrasattva as water?
A couple of weeks ago during the Vajrasattva empowerment Garchen Rinpoche said from now on we should view water as having the nature of water. This slipped my mind until last week while visiting the beach and reciting the Vajrasattva whilst in the ocean... I find this idea intriguing, and I was wond...

Re: no hair cutting days?
Thanks Nilasarvati  Funny thing is, if it said I would meet a lovely companion I wouldn't take it seriously at all. I know a good bit about western astrology, and to me it really seems way to general until you really get into the intricacies of it, then it starts to make sense. I can't help b...

no hair cutting days?
I'm sorry if this seems silly, or is in the wrong section... I noticed that I have made an appointment for a haircut on a no hair cutting day according to the fpmt calendar. It would be difficult for me to reschedule, as well as inconvenient for the stylist. So my question is... how seriously does o...

buddhist collage art
Hi all, If this is in the wrong place please feel free to move it. I have all these magazines and various things with buddhist images on them because I didn't want to throw them in the trash. I'm an artist, and I thought I'd like to cut out all these images and make some kind collage art. Would that...
