Re: John Maransky :: Awakening Through Love

I met him many years back and traveled to India with him and Chokyi Nyima Rinpoche for about 10 days. Nice enough man and very learned he was definitely more in the role of scholar then rather than Lama. I have not read his book(s)? or attended his classes, but one on one he was able to answer some ...

Re: Pls help identify this tangkha

I've noticed a trend of Amitabha popping up on a lot of random thangkas (I guess nothing wrong with that per se). I'd have to agree with Sherab Dorje, Vajrasattva w/Vajratopa, and Amitabha above. Generally it would make sense in deities of the Amitabha family, but many formally untrained thangka pa...

Re: Need Help Locating Texts from TBRC

Thank you! We ended up figuring it out, a nice woman who works there helped guide us and we had to make an account. I think we have most of what we were looking for now.

Need Help Locating Texts from TBRC

Hello, I am unfamiliar with the workings of TBRC but I am trying to help a Lama find some texts. We are looking for the complete volumes of Dorje Lingpa, about 4 volumes. The Lama said he knows they have them but we can't seem to find them online. What is the best way to search for these texts and h...

Morning is considered best, ideally predawn while things are still "freash". Generally sur would be offered in the evening.

Re: Steven Seagal

He was originally recognized as an emanation from my understanding. He was close friends with my teacher for some time, a high level old school Nyingma teacher with family connections to HHPR. On the occasions when my teacher spent time with him, he seemed to be sincere but also a little too focused...

Yes it has tons of benefits for the people and environment close to it! I have often given them to non-Buddhist family members, and after explaining the significance they all loved them!

Re: Chatral Rinpoche's passing

Seems there was also a story about the Shiva temple Semo Saraswati-la told us something about it, that it was Rinpoche's temple, something like that A close friend of mine was staying at the house for about 6 months last year. He said that HH Rinpoche would frequently need someone to take offering ...

Please help identify a few Nyingma Protectors

I am working off of a rough translation of of the Pema Lingpa long protectors practice and I am trying to better identify two of the protectors by their mantras. One is translated as the life sustaining black butcheress (kali?) and the other is action protector (a version of mahakala or shiva?) If y...

Re: Treasure Vase Info

We keep all together in a separate chest in our shrine room. Most are not meant to be displayed as other shrine items, but kept hidden away to increase yang. As long as a wealth puja is performed once in a while it should "recharge" them.

Re: Chod Damaru vs standard Damaru

At a center I visited recently, I noticed a type of damaru that differed from the usual skull or skull-shaped wood ones (the kind with corners) in that it was small--maybe six or eight cm (3-4 in) in diameter--but round like a chod damaru. I'd never seen one like this before. Ideas on what that's a...
