Terry - Why did you remain a Shin Buddhist if you were uneasy? Were you raised in a Shin family or environment? If not, why did you convert? Since, as I understand it, in Jodo Shinshu the nembutsu is seen more as an expression of gratitude, I might also ask: how does gratitude come about? Understand I am asking this question as someone who is neither very grateful nor devout by nature. Umm, not too easy to answer that one. As a Shin Bud...

What is wrong with divergence?

One of the many reasons I was
attracted to Buddhism many
decades ago was the lack of
dogma and acceptance of many
divergent views.

I find it very sad that there are
some Shin groups who are
becoming very dogmatic.

Hello From British columbia

Hello everybody from Delta, B.C.

I consider myself a sectless Buddhist,
but have had a lot of involvement
with Shin Buddhism since the mid 50's.

Mainly since I met my future wife at
the Toronto Buddhist Church & later
this year we will celebrate our 50th.
