Re: Head transplant, physicalism vs Buddhadharma

There's even some examples of heart transplant patients noticing a change in personality, which is interesting too

There's also this book of teachings on the practice (though it doesn't contain the sadhanas themselves): https://www.amazon.com/Sublime-Lady-Immortality-Teachings-Nyingtik/dp/1735734500/ref=sr_1_1?crid=1USCRF4Z1LVU5&keywords=sublime+lady+of+immortality&qid=1656192478&sprefix=sublime+lady...

Happens to me on both Chrome and Edge browsers, on two different laptops. It's been happening for about a week or so, makes it hard to use the site.

Re: Chappelle's The Closer

There used to be a saying that if it looks like a duck, walks like a duck, and quacks like a duck then it is a duck. Now, however, if the animal in question identifies as a swan you have to agree that it is a swan. As Buddhists, I believe it is our duty to relax clinging to personal identity. We ar...

Re: Online Ngondro programs

There is also ngondrogar which is a project of Dzongsar Khyentse Rinpoche - I'm not sure about the details and if they are still accepting new students, but here is the site: http://www.ngondrogar.org/en/registration/overview

Re: Drug Addiction

Yes I don't think it is wise to lump all psychoactive compounds together with the term drug. Some allow people to escape, and become addictions. Others force people to look at their lives, and if used properly can be positively transformative. There is research with positive results of using psyched...

Re: Any entertaining novels not too incompatible with awakening?

my favourite novels have been the ones by Haruki Murakami - I've read them all and enjoyed every one :)

his books feel quite unique to me in terms of mood, and it's been quite enjoyable to explore the worlds he paints :)

Re: Dzongsar khyentse... monk?

Kelly Roberts: Why do you sometimes wear monk’s robes? Dzongsar Khyentse Rinpoche: In Buddhism, we talk about several different stages of degeneration. There’s one degenerated time that Buddha called tagtsam zinpey du, the time when monastic robes are maintained just as a mark or symbol. That’s wher...

I bought mine from the Tibetan Nuns Project store ( https://tnp.org/products/long-malas-3/ )

Good prices, reasonable shipping costs (I'm in Canada too), good selection, and the proceeds go to support the Tibetan Nuns Project :)

Re: Universal Atman in Buddhism

Found this to be a fascinating read: http://www.spiritualteachers.org/b_roberts_interview.htm Initially, when I looked into Buddhism, I did not find the experience of no-self there either; yet I intuited that it had to be there. The falling away of the ego is common to both Hinduism and Buddhism. T...
