Re: Was karmamudra part of ganachakra in the ancient India?
I wasn't around then, but is pretty apparent that at least in India it was practiced that way. I'm sure the ngakpa traditions held to that as well.

Never had this cycle, but it seems to be that. The entire cycle would be a lot of empowerments.

Re: Wang for "Künzang Gongpa Zangthal" from Taklung T.R. - what is is for?
Tagdrol Empowerment from the Gongpa Zangthal cycle. It surely has all the requirements to practice the path of dzogchen. The tagdrol empowerment from the Lama Yangtik cycle is what I am familiar with, but I am sure it is very similar. It is a very condensed essence empowerment. Of course you will ne...

Re: Stagnant sanghas, teachers not teaching
The role of the Teacher is not just to transmit texts and comment on them. For that, YouTube, Zoom, etc. may be acceptable. However, IME, it's important to be with the Teacher as much as possible (as long as you don't get burnt in the process). As the Teacher really gets to know you, He or She can ...

Re: characteristics of outer, inner and secret guru yogas
I can give the example of outer, inner, and secret guru yogas in the Damcho Gongpa Yangzab cycle: The OUTER secret: This is the three roots practice of Guru Rinpoche,Hayagriva, Varahi. You can understand why it is the outer secret because it applies mahayoga methods. The INNER secret: Lama Tsewang ...

I'm rimed. Did the lo gsum phyogs gsum drinkung route. And all I engage in now is Nyingma / Ati cycles. Guru Rinpoche gang.pemachophel wrote: ↑Mon Mar 11, 2024 3:27 pm Often, that's what being rime really boils down to -- being Kagyud or Sakypa but practicing Nyingma.

Re: Stagnant sanghas, teachers not teaching
Here is a good double edge sword example of growing a sangha with the younger generation: The current Kalu Yangsi is doing a good job at that. From those that have gone to his events that I know, he draws quite a few a lot of 20 to 30 year olds. Some might be kids of those who's parents were student...

Re: Stagnant sanghas, teachers not teaching
Also, there is still a huge "Mr.Miyagi" thing in the west, for the white people any way. The asian sanha, mostly Taiwanese that I know are culturally way more comfortable continuing the vassal / lord relationship with Tibetans. Calling the traditional teacher-student relationship by these...

Re: Stagnant sanghas, teachers not teaching
The whole Internet/Zoom Dharma phenomenon has been, IMO, a double-edged sword. Everyone now wants to know if a teaching is available on-line. I just don't believe a full Vajrayana training can happen entirely on-line no matter how many years it lasts. This is a big thing in my circle, the watering ...

Re: Prophecies of (Nuclear) World War in 2030 (split)
If karma is everything, then Kshitigarbha cannot be present in the hell realms and He will not be of any benefit to the hell beings because the latter could not have seen him due to their impure visions - So Kshitigarbha can display to beings in the hell realms only through his realization? He has a...

Re: Prophecies of (Nuclear) World War in 2030 (split)
No, not everything is due to karma and when the strength of aspiration prayers, vows, etc, are strong, they can override karmic forces as reflected in past actions/deeds of Amitabha, Chenrezig, Manjusri, Samantabhadra, Kshitigarbha, etc as stated in the scriptures. The determining factor is the per...

Re: Prophecies of (Nuclear) World War in 2030 (split)
Guru Rinpoche and His Tertons made these prophecies. If these prophecies deserve serious consideration, then the antidotes He and His Tertons also specified also deserve serious consideration. This is it. If one doesn’t understand how intention and aspiration can interdict negative states at both a...

Re: Prophecies of (Nuclear) World War in 2030 (split)
All the prayers of the collected sangha of a thousand years couldn't save Tibet. Speaking for the U.S. and A, we are beyond prayer time. The amount of karmic debt that is collectively owed is immense. The amount of blood that has be spilled to enrich our own soil, payed for by our taxes, and lifesty...

Re: Suppresion of emotions and vajrayana
This is way too common occurrence and I don't think it should have to be like that. I also don’t have the same impression with Dudjom Tersar and Nyingma in general. Their entire path felt better summarized and more clear, whereas Drikung seemed all over the place. Drikung is not really all over the...

Re: Suppresion of emotions and vajrayana
Its not being talked about and made clear. I have rarely encounter lama or text talk from Tantra PoV and not Sutrayana pov. Antidotes approach is much, much more common. The entire atmosphere is very "sutric". So this is a common issue, especially when we are fresh in the world of the Tib...

Dear Dharma brothers and sisters, I feel stuck and need advice. Please help. After almost 4 years of Vajrayana I can't shake off this impression that something is fundamentally wrong and I don't know what to do. I have noticed that aside Dzogchen and (sutric & tantric with signs) Mahamudra, no ...

Re: Tsalung w/ & w/o completion stages
I can chime in on the Kagyu side, Drikung specifically. There are a few lineages within the tradition itself. Some retreat masters will give the tsa lung first, as in the pranayamas and tummo instuctions. Ater some experience is gained in this then the trulkhor exercies are given to help stabalize, ...
