Re: Buddhism without a teacher

Dear OP, Like you, I have been guided to Buddhism. A great many Buddhists say they didn't choose Buddhism but that it choose them. Indeed, I believe that in my past lives I asked to never be seperated from the Dharma, so now no matter which life I am living, the Dharma will find me. Like you I live ...

Re: Why is right right and wrong wrong?

I think that loving kindness is the natural unaffected universal nature of all sentient beings. Therefore anything that shifts us outside of this centre of loving kindness is illusion of the mind. All illusion of the mind is wrong because it is illusion.

That is how I am coming to think of it.

Re: Advice against expectations about practice or Awakening

The Lojong 59 Slogans deal with this: "Abandon all hope of fruitian" "Don't try to be the fastest, don't compete with others" "Don't use your spirituality to increase yourself absorbtion" "Don'r expect applause" "Other's before self, dharma, and awakening...

Re: Hello from Paris, France.

Thanks everyone for the further warm welcomes.
I was lucky enough to take refuge with Lodreu Rabsel Rinpoche a week ago during a two day retreat that was dedicated to understanding the refuge.
Taking one day at a time and really excited to see where this journey takes me.

Kindest regards
Jay

Hello,

I have also taken refuge in that school of Buddhism. Mainly because it was the best option for my living situation in France. However I feel one hundred percent that it is the perfect school for me!

Re: Why is Tibetan Buddhism more popular?

I am very new to buddhism, but what I read below made a lot of sense to me: "If the motivation for an action such as coming, going or meditating is to avoid one's own rebirth after death in the unfortunate realms of existence, this is Dharma or spiritual practice of the most modest or least sco...

Thanks everyone for your replies.

I realise that I should not ask questions but simply ask who is the thinker :).

I keep on falling into the illusion :).

Re: Hello from Paris, France.

Thank you everyone for your warm hellos! When I drink wine, I have to step off the spiritual path. My thoughts will be (more) clouded, my feelings will be based on an intoxicant, my actions will be slowed by the drink. I can not guarantee that I will not act heedlessly. I truely devote my life from ...

The Emptiness in Form

I was contemplating the Emptiness in form that is spoken on in the Heart Sutra and it reminded me of a meditation I was having where Shiva is gazing at his creation and his creation is gazeing into him, pulling out all the unformed into the creation. As Shiva's essence entered Creation, it began to ...

Hello from Paris, France.

Hello everyone, I have decided to take refuge, at the moment it is just privately and my pratice is solitary but I hope to find a physical place to pratice and take refuge soon. I have long been called to the buddist path, but I have never been willing to commit to the 5th precept of no alochol. I a...
