Lama Tashi Topgyal to start teaching Flight of the Garuda this year

Apologies if this is in appropriate but I thought the community would be interested. Lama Tashi Topgyal will start teaching the Flight of the Garuda this fall (Oct 25 - Nov 3) at Kunzang Palchen Ling (after completing the last Dzogchen cycle of teachings from the Barway Dorje Lineage this last fall)...

Re: Can you do water offerings after work if you don't have time in the morning?

Buddhas and Bodhisattvas are there the instant you bring them to mind, so I don't think the time of day really matters as long as it's done with good intention. I think it's traditional to fill them up in the morning and empty them out in the evening however (with bowls turned upside down so Pretas ...

What was your intention? Did you do it mindlessly, or did you do it with Bodhichitta? Did you regret it afterwards, or rejoice in it afterwards?

Re: Seven Line Prayer as Guru Yoga?

IMO pretty much all practices are Guru Yoga if done with the right intention and mindset. Yidams are not different than the guru's mind. Resting in the nature of your mind is resting in the nature of your guru's mind. But the seven line prayer is very much guru yoga if you don't see Guru Rinpoche an...

Re: If you can only attend the first day of Nyungne

Does that count as attending Nyungne? or best to do Nyungne next time when you can commit to 2.5 days? Doing one day is called a Nyine. It of course doesn't count as the full thing, but is still a great practice and a ton of merit. Some of my sanghas older members would do two nyinnes instead of a ...

I believe that's being fed/drinking a kapala filled with blood, although that is more specifically desire.

Re: Mingyur Rinpoche's White Tara

Mingyur Rinpoche incorporated White Tara into his preliminary program before someone can ask for higher yanas teachings from him. I'm interested in receiving his teachings. Does anyone know if the White Tara he asks his students to complete is a highest yoga tantra form of White Tara? Is it Terma o...

Your mileage may vary, but I've found telling my employer/boss "I have a religious obligation" can go a long way. In the US at any rate I believe it gives you some legal protection.

Re: Tulku Dakpa Rinpoche online reading transmission of the 17 Dzogchen Tantras

Agreed! We're getting spoon fed amrita here! Nothing to complain about.

That being said I can certainly sympathize about being extremely frustrated if my samsaric circumstances made it impossible to receive the whole thing.

Re: Tulku Dakpa Rinpoche online reading transmission of the 17 Dzogchen Tantras

Also a thing to keep in mind (for future events) - whenever I've gone to a major teaching/transmission/empowerment things have always gone overtime on at least a couple days, and usually there's at least a day when things go egregiously overtime. Just kind of the nature of things so it's good to ass...

Re: Tulku Dakpa Rinpoche online reading transmission of the 17 Dzogchen Tantras

I think we should all consider ourselves very blessed to be able to receive one of the most precious transmissions out there with the only hardship being things going overtime.

But then again I'm lucky in that my situation/priorities allow me to cancel/skip things as needed for something like this.

It has been starting 15 minutes early for the opening prayers. So if you got in before 15:00 CET you should be fine.

Re: Tulku Dakpa Rinpoche online reading transmission of the 17 Dzogchen Tantras

It is so beautiful to see Malcolm at the end today. The position of the hand made me wonder, do we do that at all times during receiving? I couldn't see the other participants on my Zoom (or the audience) if that is what we need to do (hands together) I'll do that tomorrow. I've been taught you can...

How much? And I ask in terms of what's generally accepted/common/reasonable, culturally and normally. I am sending $25 now and do it per day. Would that be alright? $108 I terribly, terribly need to go back to work on Monday morning. I cannot change the circumstance. And it is an actual apology bec...
