Re: General set of practices during dzogchen-based dark retreats?

Others answered the question, but just to share some personal experience - dark retreats are not to be taken lightly. The level of burried emotional problems, disturbances and obstacles can be overwhelming. And not only because I'm pathetic - I've seen people come to the edge of craziness after just...

Re: One taste

ChNN has talked about that quite a few times. I can't find now all the material, but from the fast search in my materials I find this, I hope it's OK to post it here, it's just a general information: "There is no difference between the state of Mahamudra and the state of Dzogchen, but it doesn...

Re: One taste

The 4 contemplations of Dzogchen Semde have different names and explanations, but they do correspond very much to the 4 yogas of Gampopa.

Re: Experience of prana

Tummo in the aspects of ChNN's teachings has the aim to increase the specific sensation to a point of discovery. It's more or less the same as in some semdzins. It is a part of the lojongs, to be precise. In the context of the 6 yogas it has for sure many more subtleties.

Or bliss I think, as some of the semdzins are similar to kumbaka or tummo.

Re: Purification of the Five Elements

Rinpoche said, that he uses the order from lower tantras, because it worked for him very well. He taught the story many times how he had some mental obscurations when he was young and the teacher in the monastery told him to do it many times, thus dispelling his obscurations. So, although there is o...

Re: Dzogchen Retreat- Zoom - by donation

Well, if you write a text on Dzogchen today, will you call it "traditional"? I don't think so, because it doesn't belong to a tradition that we know, and is new, written by a person known to a certain community. I just thought it is relevant to note, since it was not clear and some people ...

Only if it had a western title.

It must be noted though, that the cited text "Dakini Upadesha" is a text composed by Elias, not a traditional text. It is a text on tregchod.

One of the things that Yeshi explicitly criticized at the famous meeting. He said he was always against the expansion of the community. So no wonder he is now the "spiritual leader" of Merigar West, not of the IDC.

Well, one thing can be certain when looking at this topic - Yeshi has stirred the emotions again. I start wondering if he is not doing it on purpose :rolling:

Re: Yeshi's really back!

Back when I attended a live webcast with him some years ago, I actually got the sense that he's the real deal; even though I'm not quite all about some of the jargon that he uses to convey his teachings. If you are talking about the Yeshe Lama teachings... that was so hard, that I thought I need to...

Re: Advaita Vedanta and Dzogchen

Having no attachment to any concept leaving nothing but indescribable experience is unique to Buddhadharma and the explanation of this being bliss and compassion and how to practice is only in our lineages of oral pith instructions. That is not really true. Same can be said of Taoism for example, r...

Re: Advaita Vedanta and Dzogchen

Is it [Dzogchen] only accessible to teachers who keep a lineage alive and through a "direct introduction" of the disciple or the student? Yes. Why? It is based on direct perception and not intellectual analysis. Anyone who does not have a teacher of Dzogchen will be absolutely unable to u...

Re: Sanitation in dark retreat

i suppose you're asking because you don't have a toilet in the place for a dark retreat, like we usually have these days. In that case you could make yourself a compost toilet, like in today's campers. Or buy one, but they are expensive.

trekchö specifically. They have never been called like that. Usually something like "contemplation and this or that..". Jim and Elio had, unfortunately not any more. Elias is doing similar way, I know he's quite strange, but if you have possibility, join (even remotely). He usually explai...
