Why is HH in Vancouver that time of year? Do you know? Is he doing another tour of North America?
I believe he'll be in Seattle just before that for the Sakya Monlam.

This sentiment is indeed expressed in some traditions. I cannot accurately illuminate more than that. Hopefully one of the more educated members will happen along to explain it.

What are the Sakya Trichen's views on webcast empowerments? Yesterday when I checked out the youtube, I noticed it's on my liked list. To know why, I re-watched. At least, you will get his view on ritual through internet on this video. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YJf_9LVz-l4 While this is welco...

This thread has taken something of a turn but for the original post I'd suggest to meditate on the faults of Samara is relation to your mundane desires.

It takes more time than a few weeks to cultivate good qualities.

People I find are generally self serving rather than intentionally evil. Keeping this in mind I find it easier to forgive their rougher qualities.

Why would they? It's a perfectly orthodox opinion to hold.

I dont think there is any great mystery here. Ok some like the idea of being Indian Jones battling through the Himalayan snows and finding the Guru who puts them through enormous Herculean tasks from which they emerge serene and wise, flinging phurbas and shattering rock with mantras. The reality f...

You do not need to ask permission to take teachings from other lamas. You do not need approval to leave their company and move on either. This may be your own view, but I don't think this is always the best way to go. If you are fortunate enough to find a teacher that you have a good degree of fait...

You did the math? I've been in the Buddhist scene for 35 years. I've done the math. I know about scandals you have never heard of and never will. Not from my lips. Fine, but that's not math. Your demand of some sort of proof is ironic as you made little effort to back up your own remarks.
