That which persists

When no breath is it is that which persists when no conscious thought is it is that which persists when no heart beat is it is that which persists when no sight to see is seen it is that which persists when no good or bad is found it is that which persists when no right or wrong is found it is that ...

Re: Dharma practice is a placebo.

You missed this or perhaps did not understand....?" ME or them it matters not who really....it is as it is." This is stating, as I mention with the smile faces....... I am not excluding myself from being exactly as others I describe.... being what it is I am finding and complaining about.....

Re: Death at Tibetan Buddhist meditation retreat in Arizona

In a law enforcement venue regardless of other particulars the victim of a assault of such a nature, a knife wound of any sort..... the perpetrator would be arrested and the courts left to hash it out with the assistance of the DA. Most all states are the same in this excepting perhaps now a few suc...

Re: Dharma practice is a placebo.

Now that is funny. I do have a sense of humor and appreciate good quality humor(by my take of course). That which speaks to the angst of common existence. This of course being a solely personal opinion and thusly without real qualifier. Most humor is compassionate in basis I'd guess. Some not, as in...

Re: Dharma practice is a placebo.

Yes certainly these sorts of discussions on this thread this subject matter is not intended for you nor DN. DN challenged me quite pointedly so I responded. My fashion of response does not fit a certain criteria....oh well. Really a sort of thread I may engage you two on would be the thread on the d...

Re: Death at Tibetan Buddhist meditation retreat in Arizona

During the days of historic china probably in excess of a hundred thousand were killed by various revolutions related to humans who really or for political purpose considered themselves to be the future buddha. Really corruptions are found in all religions past present and will be in the future. It ...

Re: Dharma practice is a placebo.

Yes muni...coincidentally  ... in a jog through the forest last night(a real thing I did not a metaphor or such thing) I was thinking how very difficult it could be to arrive at a thing of understanding by negation as opposed to position or the positive. As in....I know this red dog is not bl...

Re: Protective Result

Ahhhh...the reason I am here on this board. I was once many years ago with my favorite dog of the day. In the forest at a unremarkable place this dog found a golf ball. Burying the golf ball at the root of a tree, the dog stopped paused just a bit and looked me in the eye. It then concluded its chor...

Re: Death at Tibetan Buddhist meditation retreat in Arizona

We are simply not in a position to judge this teacher on the basis of this sole issue. The teacher if the stories are true appears faulted. That may be debated and probably well protected as point, quite easily. Certainly I would not adhere to what appears to be this teachers opinion on things. But ...

Re: Death at Tibetan Buddhist meditation retreat in Arizona

Researching this I found one story referencing about mid nineties in this general vicinity on this date. However this was not at a elevation of 7000 if what is stated in that twitter statement is at all true, but at around 4200. So it would be significantly cooler at that elevation probably mid eigh...

Re: Dharma practice is a placebo.

To elaborate a slight bit.....we are so emersed in our defilements attachments and all the rest we take it all as real, thinking as Carl Jung would perhaps say a unconscious universal consciousness perceiving such as real. And real it is.... but such a thing and thing which may identify the past and...

Re: Dharma practice is a placebo.

This....is stated by another.."There is also the possibility that we were never sick in the first place." This is then stated...."In the metaphor sickness means being subjected to emotional and cognitive afflictions. " If the first is true the second is not, if the second is true...

Re: Death at Tibetan Buddhist meditation retreat in Arizona

Well I take a different thing from this. First never fast without hydrating :woohoo: . If you are a soft westerner that is.... as I am. Second....investigate all proposed teachers thoroughly taking as much perhaps as seven years or more to see all aspects of the teacher before committing....never ru...

Re: Death at Tibetan Buddhist meditation retreat in Arizona

IF there was any question in the eyes of the law this cause of death would be reported as suspicious and most likely either be subject to a criminal investigation and/or grand jury. Certainly the local DA would make that determination after talking to those involved and most importantly the sheriffs...

Re: Death at Tibetan Buddhist meditation retreat in Arizona

Sorry That conflicts with the earlier news report linked that states water was found in the cave and it was being tested for contamination. Since the second link is from a religious person source seemingly affiliated with the two(and possibly in part responsible by some consideration) ..sorry I take...

Re: Death at Tibetan Buddhist meditation retreat in Arizona

Retreat in cave is practiced for spiritual purpose. A habitable cave is quite a find. Those providing food or drink to those on retreat especially in cave retreat are usually told to do such in as a no contact fashion as possible. These two may not have been up to the task or he may just have died.....

Re: Death at Tibetan Buddhist meditation retreat in Arizona

Here is a link from a buddhist tradition that emphasizes fasting. http://www.urbandharma.org/udharma9/fasting.html Consider in the 18 day fast only very small amounts of water is taken. Again conjecture...but this makes sense in this circumstance. Sounds like these two were off alone and on their ow...

Re: Death at Tibetan Buddhist meditation retreat in Arizona

Well just playing amateur detective here...I'd surmise if they had been suffering such the news report would have stated this was likely due to a illness. There was no reported follow up to the story so I can assume the water tests came back negative...or else it would have been reported. A poison a...

Re: Death at Tibetan Buddhist meditation retreat in Arizona

Here is the link stating contents of the cave..... http://173.201.176.156/content/news/2012/04/26/261030 .. from the local newspaper. I am certainly no detective but this really only makes sense if the death was a congenital heart disorder or they were fasting but not hydrating. Since she was dehydr...
