Re: Semde teachers & teachings
I thought it might be useful for some people here if I share the material connected with Semde I came across so far (also included is some material on the A-Khrid tradition, as it shares many similarities with the Semde tradition): Works by Chögyal Namkhai Norbu: An Introduction to the Practice of C...

Re: Semde teachers & teachings
many thanks for your suggestions, guys! @ Soar: I'm aware of Valby's work, but I don't have it yet, as I'm waiting until I have the dough to buy all volumes at once. @ Norwegian: last time I checked, Amazon.com had the book listed, but there were no copies available, now it's obviously available aga...

Semde teachers & teachings
Almost all I know about the Semde teachings is from the work of ChNN. AFAIK, Tulku Urgyen and Khenchen Palden Sherab also taught some Semde, but are there any living teachers (beside ChNN) that teach Semde these days? And does anybody have some reading suggestions on Semde in english, german or span...

Re: “The Secret Lamp of Wisdom”
Which ironically is one of the root tantras of "klong sde". yes, I was wondering about that too... the footnote in "The Supreme Source" tries to convey that the 4 yogas of Semde are older than the yogas of Mahamudra, and as evidence for this it cites a Longde text... I can’t rea...

“The Secret Lamp of Wisdom”
In the “Supreme Source” it is mentioned that one of the early sources for the 4 yogas of Semde is a tantra called “The Secret Lamp of Wisdom” ( ye shes gsang ba sgron ma rin po che man ngag gi rgyud ). I tried to track down this tantra, and came across this text in russian , which seems to be a russ...

Re: Longde Teachings
Fa Dao, I think you can buy everything @ SSI if you received DI (except for the longsal books), however, that doesn't mean you can practice everything without receiving the particular transmission. For example, there is a book entitled "Longchenpa's Precious Ship" which includes a Kunjed G...

Re: Tara Mandala Chogyal Namkhai Norbu & Lama Tsultrim Allio
Also, Rinpoche displayed an extremely touching act of generosity at the end of the retreat, which actually ties in to this whole thread. I have never seen a Lama refuse dana. Ever. Nor do I ever expect them to. It solidifies the tendrel between the teacher and student, etc. But when Rinpoche was pu...

Wow, I guess all of the Karmapas must be wrong to consider Lord Virupa's use of vast amounts of alcohol and sex with many women as a teaching. They must not have met you! I fell so important just to write to you. YOU are sooooooooo special. hey illusionsgame... I don't care very much about Trungpa ...

Re: Most recent terma?
it's not that they are revealed through these processes, but rather that these visions are considered to be instances of actually meeting with enlightened beings. Right, I guess I phrased my question above badly... But you answered my question anyway: pure visions can occur in the dream (i.e. mnal ...

Thank you, Mutsuk!mutsuk wrote:It is traditionally associated with pure visions (dag snang).
So, is mnal chos then just one way or method to reveal dag snang teachings? We have, for example, Dudjom Lingpa's "dag snang ye shes drwa ba" -- was that revealed by other means than through mnal chos?

Re: Most recent terma?
Ter shad is there in Longsal. that's right -- for example, in the Longsal book vol. 2 it even says: "... written with molten gold, followed by these verses in excelent Tibetan uchen script with two dots, one on the top and the other, separating each syllable, and the terma sign at the end of e...

Re: Most recent terma?
Instead of calling Chögyal Namkhai Norbu Rinpoche's Longsal Teachings "termas" or "mnal chos", how about: rMi-lam gTer Now I don't think that Chögyal Namkhai Norbu refers to them as such, however I also don't think that rMi-lam gTer is a terminology invented by Jim Valby, John M...

So ChNN just calls his "mnal chos" termas, even though they actually are no termas at all?mutsuk wrote:No. Tertöns generally distinguish mnal-chos and termas quite clearly. The conditions for revealing one or the other are different.heart wrote: Are "mnal chos" considered terma mutsuk?

Hey... I'm too really interested in the Nepali Dharma tradition(s) - unfortunately, it seems there ain't many people who share this interest (at least not outside of Nepal). And most of the literature that is out there is either out of print or at least very difficult to find... anyway, here's some ...

Re: Dzogchen Community of Chogyal Namkhai Norbu
Bhusuku, thank you for the information. But this only declares generally the existence of an Internet Committe. And as far as I know, none of the above 4 mentioned people, who were in charge back in 2001, took part in the backstage backstabbing against DB. [/color] Frankly, I don't know exactly wha...
