Re: Seek To Be Lamps Unto Yourselves
Greg, those guys are crazy party animals... It's not your anger etc. It's just what's happening to no one... Caused by no one. Ati has no concept of taming anger or becoming a nice boy. More shamatha and vipassana and you will certainly realize "nothing is important" as Norbu used to say..

Re: Peter Fenner - "Radiant Mind"
I dont agree. The origin of a teaching is not as important as it's functionality. Does it bring benefit. Dzogchen didn't come from primordial mythological sources. Lamas wrote the tantras from the state of Rigpa. Our state of Rigpa is Samantabhadra, is Vajrasattva. I believe Dzogchen is a science of...

Sonam, read the threads again. I don't feel the whole world is against me. I feel we are just agreeing to to disagree. I know you mean well. Can we get back to the thread topic?

Re: The Buddha Witinin by Jamgon Kontrul
Jean Luc, who I know well, would agree with "knowledge" for Rigpa. As they both think rigpa is some kind of knowledge. Jean Luc is not a realized teacher, he's an emotional basket case. Malcolm is ok, but understands Dzogchen only intellectually. But I like him alot.

Oberon: Thanks so much! I read the stuff about NPD... Wow! That described my ego perfectly! I am going to get that little pecker into therapy asap! I am so glad I am not that little self-absorbed ego! Boy if I didn't realize the emptiness of that little pecker, I'd be in for a HUGE therapy bill! Lig...

Re: Seek To Be Lamps Unto Yourselves
Malcolm said: "So you have not answered the question of whether these mental constructions are independently existent entities since they arise from themselves and lack causes, or are caused entities that lack independent existence." You moron, I explained it in exact detail. Ok, ok... You...

Re: The Buddha Witinin by Jamgon Kontrul
Your translation is being influenced by the conceptualized vidya as used in all sorts of (gelugpa) translations. They are not close to "rigpa", however they are close to "knowledge", a very poor choice. No translators of significance consider Rigpa to be translated as "knowl...

Re: Seek To Be Lamps Unto Yourselves
Catmoon, you are so right! Eventually we realize all arguments, all points of view, all frames of reference and all concepts are equally empty of any inherent existence. That's the whole idea of Madhyamaka. We are left with " nothing at all" yet that doesn't prevent us from gawking in sile...

Re: Seek To Be Lamps Unto Yourselves
No Namdrol,"sentient beings" are just a mental construction arising within the space of the Dharmakaya, like reflections in a mirror. How do those those mental constructions come about according to you (I am perfectly familiar with what Dzogchen texts say)? Do mental constructions merely ...

Re: Jamgon Kongtrul Rinpoche Quote
You are exactly right Namdrol, I have no "idea" what Rigpa is. There you have it, I came clean man. And I also know, you have only "ideas" about what Rigpa is. I have never been able to capture Rigpa as an idea.

Re: The Buddha Witinin by Jamgon Kontrul
Wow! Thank you Namdrol! I never considered myself an intellectual, but coming from you that has weight. On the other hand perhaps you may find benefit from shamatha and vipassana practice, less time reading and translating. However your intellectual grasp of the Dharma is amazing. Now balance that w...

Re: Jamgon Kongtrul Rinpoche Quote
Cap'n, ask around to people who had either large retreat "direct introduction" or webcast. Ask them if they experienced the non-dual Rigpa. In Tibet the populace came to Dzogchen masters for a "blessing", they weren't seriously engaged as practitioners (per Norbu). Real practitio...

Re: Jamgon Kongtrul Rinpoche Quote
Nam, Nubs was wrong. He didn't realize that Chan realization is Mahamudra and trekchod, realizing kadag. Boy, you don't read my posts. I explained that earlier. Nubs should have stayed within his own knowledge base.

Try to "recognize" Rinpoche's intent and meaning.. If you do, that's transmission of the best kind.
