Re: Buddhism, Social Equity, and odd interpretations of karma
When racist language is used, it is appropriate to term it racist. The meaning of appropriate is that it should be "suitable or proper in the circumstances", so that it might not be if the circumstances change. What you should say is that it is accurate. For example, there is a so called ...

Re: Buddhism, Social Equity, and odd interpretations of karma
Another defiant use of the incendiary term "racist" where "prejudice" would suffice, and is clearly more representative of his post. Moreover, you've isolated the point about social services, the part government plays, which is only part of his grievance, and made a sharp edge o...

Re: Buddhism, Social Equity, and odd interpretations of karma
Even though white privilege is a thing, its not all its cracked up to be. Theres draw backs to being a white man... For example in the eyes of society you have 0 excuse for not being successful and wealthy. Oh youre white? If your not wealthy/have a car/have a home then you are somehow a frak up an...

Re: Buddhism, Social Equity, and odd interpretations of karma
There's this story about a British missionary in India during Victorian times who saw a girl being swept downstream by a river. An old Indian man by the river stood by and watched while the missionary went in to save the girl. Afterwards he asked the old man why he didn't save her. He said it was h...

Ok, by that logic then all the people complaining about women's rights, SJW's (never thought I'd be defending them lol), LGBTQ people, BLM, school integration, The War on Christmas, and whatever else can just STFU. Because hey, contentment right? They need to take an honest look at what is effectiv...

Re: what is whiteness? what is it to be "white" in the USA?
Tenpa Rinpoche wrote a blog post about how he thought he could engage with anger constructively, and turn it around to his enlightened will. I don't think BIll Cassidy is really someone you want to cite as an example of enlightened will. Interesting blog? Sometimes. Awakened tulku? That depends on ...

You're failing to explain why your concept of "contentment" applies to the underclass but not others (white folk). Its applies to everyone. Ok, by that logic then all the people complaining about women's rights, SJW's (never thought I'd be defending them lol), LGBTQ people, BLM, school in...

Re: what is whiteness? what is it to be "white" in the USA?
You are apparently arguing that disadvantaged people in society should accept their situation. A lot of disadvantaged people have, for the most part, accepted their situation. They have their duties and their pleasures and they are not looking for any radical changes. They don't like radical change...

we can engage them empowered by the inner mantra that my friend Pancho Ramos-Stierle uses in confrontations with his jailers: “Brother, your soul is too beautiful to be doing this work.” If we can stare hate in the face and never waver from that knowledge, we will access inexhaustible tools of crea...

http://charleseisenstein.net/hategriefandanewstory/ This does not mean to withdraw from political conversation, but to rewrite its vocabulary. It is to speak hard truths with love. It is to offer acute political analysis that doesn’t carry the implicit message of “Aren’t those people horrible?” Suc...

Its quite incredible how disturbed people can be by the sense of groundlessness, and how the tendency to fill it with meaning is so addictive. Its worse than heroin. And worst of all is how it goes unnoticed.
