Re: New Forum Idea

This period of reflection was not caused by bad behaviour. It was caused because there was inaction to stop that behaviour, and an Admin who was partisan in permitting persecution which, albeit not extreme, was enough to cause members to leave. The attacks on Malcolm were partly also attacks on his ...

Re: Deities

They are as real as we are.

They are as unreal as we are.

Decide for yourself if they would exist if you were not able to think about them, because nobody here can tell you.. LOL :)

Re: Dzogchen Community of Chogyal Namkhai Norbu

LZ TAKHYUNG KILAYA (Dark Blue Garuda combined with other deities and with a Kilaya lower body): Rinpoche has very kindly clarified a couple of aspects of this practice for me via email, including the mantra. I'll be glad to share his advice with anyone in the DC who has received that transmission (I...

Re: Icke: How to Free Your Mind

its the "lounge," mr. thought police. It's got nothing to do with thought police, you are free to believe anything you want to. What I was pointing out was that is seems strange to me that you would be surprised that people on a Mahayana and Vajrayana forum would actually uphold and/or su...

Re: Icke: How to Free Your Mind

The problem with making unsubstantiated claims, or claims that cannot be verified by reason or evidence, is that it amounts to wrong speech. you mean like claims of termas being dug up after being buried by Guru Rinpoche, footprints left in stone of various buddhist saints (every monastery in Tibet...

Re: Icke: How to Free Your Mind

I have a problem which is called 'defamation'.

As a consequence I can't comment much on Icke.

However, in a totally unrelated way, I wonder why people are permitted to discuss dangerous lunatics on a Buddhist forum when ToS are so strict in other respects.

Re: TENGRIISM

As far as I understand it "Tengerism" or "Tengriism" is the more modern and preferred way to refer to what is commonly known as "Shamanism." The latter term was coined by western anthropologists and is misleading because it sounds like it's the shamans who are being wo...

Re: TENGRIISM

K I did a quick look at the wiki article and this Tengriism seems to have very little to do with Buddhism. For starters it's theistic. topic moved to the lounge. I think you may have missed this related thread and the link to 'Yellow' shamansim in the Wiki article, which does indeed mix Buddhism an...

Re: Anyone here practicing Vajrayana without a Guru?

I doubt there is any statistics about that. What I wrote is just a uneducated guess based on the people I have met. But my intention was just to note the existence of this population not argue about it's possible size. By 'guru' I meant personal teacher, that's what I think Daniel83 means too. Malc...

Re: Anyone here practicing Vajrayana without a Guru?

Not that I think that I intend to disagree, if you mean what I think you mean.. :) But probably most Tibetans don't have a guru and It's not uncommon to think that access to a guru is something only for the rich or powerful, Westerners, etc. So unless the aim is to exclude a lot of Buddhist Tibetan...

Re: Anyone here practicing Vajrayana without a Guru?

You can practice whatever path you like, but it is not Vajrayana just because you attack that label to it, and more than my clapped out car becomes a Ferrari if I stick the badge on it. Nor does it become a 'complete' path by the same logic. In terms of the OP, social anxiety need not be a barrier. ...
