Re: Bodhicharyavatara as taught in Kagyu

Ringu Tulku Rinpoche is teaching Bodhicharyavatara in the form of online shedra on his website. At the moment the website is off-line, but I'm sure it will be back online soon. Meanwhile you can take a look around via Google cache.

The Ice Cubes of Bodhi - Chogyam Trungpa

This teaching is so amazing that I had to share it. They way he explains the Dharma in modern Western terminology is brilliant.

Indian Vajrayana

I know this sub-forum's title says "Tibetan Buddhism". :-)

I would really love to know more about Indian Vajrayana the way it was practiced in the time of Indian Buddhist Mahasiddhas, like Tilopa, Saraha, Padmasambhava etc.. Is is still alive? Any good books (in English) on the subject?

Religious Buddhists was not the intent of the Buddha.
Perhaps, but that does not mean that you can visit another culture and act like a barbarian / idiot. I don't see anyone doing that in Middle East. Hmm... I wonder why?

Yes, I agree; it's a beautiful animated film. The book is, in my opinion, even better.

Career in Dharma art?

I've been thinking about pursuing a career in art (drawing/painting), and I've been playing with an idea of Western Dharma art (some of you may remember that Trungpa talked quite a bit about that). What do you guys think — is it possible to make a living by being a Dharma artist here in the West? I ...

Re: Mahayana earliest origins ?

But these are our Western academic explanations. Correct me if I'm wrong, but according to traditional Buddhist doctrine Buddha Śakyamuni thought all three yanas during his lifetime and people heard the teachings according to their capacity.

Chogyam Trungpa books

I'd like to start reading Chögyam Trungpa's books, but I don't know with which one to begin. Is there any logical order I should follow? I've thought I'd start with Illusion's Game: The Life and Teaching of Naropa, because I feel very drawn to Indian Mahamudra Mahasiddhas. Any tips?

Thanks for that quote. Chenrezig is my favorite Buddha/Bodhisattva. I do his sadhana often. Chenrezig sadhana is the most beautiful sadhana I've come across.

This forum (or more precisely, people on it) has answered numerous questions I've had. I see it as a great springboard for further research and contemplations. There are many people here who are quite experienced and learned. I'm more a reader than an active poster and I often just browse and read t...

Re: Buddhist ethics and BDSM?

@Thundering Cloud, good post. It's similar to what Tilopa said: “The problem is not enjoyment; the problem is attachment.” What I have noticed in my own life is that as I'm progressing on my dharma path I'm becoming less and less interested in samsaric activity and I ask myself, what could I possibl...

Currently reading... Wild Awakening: The Heart of Mahamudra and Dzogchen by Dzogchen Ponlop Rinpoche Mahamudra and Dzogchen are perhaps the most profound teachings within all of Tibetan Buddhism. The experience of Mahamudra, or ?great symbol,? is an overwhelming sense of extraordinary clarity, total...
